How We Can Help You

SPORTS MASSAGE

  • Reduce the impact of DOMs

  • Improve a variety of soft tissue injuries

  • Boost the body's immune system

Massage works by increasing blood flow,  breaking down scar tissue, collagen fibres and adhesions which may cause pain and reduced mobility. When scar tissue forms, it is unaligned with the original muscle fibres, causing pain. Massage can be used to realign fibres and stretch the area, allowing for a more malleable muscle and reduced pain. Mobilisations and soft tissue releases will also be used as a complementary therapy within this treatment.

It is important to get a sports massage from a therapist that you trust, as in some cases high-pressure massages can be uncomfortable. This being said, care is always taken to ensure you are receiving exceptional treatment and benefits within your pain threshold. Discussion goals and preferences will occur at your initial assessment.

Sports Massage can:

  • Reduce muscular tension

  • Improve circulation

  • Increase mobility

DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling can treat tendonitis, muscle pain, strains, impingement, plantar fasciitis and much more.

This is an invasive technique which involves fine needles entering the muscles to cause a stimulation of fibres. Within this therapy trigger points (also known as knots) are targeted which are common causes of restricted movement, muscle weakness, muscle tightness and pain.

This therapy is not suitable for those with the following: lymphedema, needle phobia, pregnant, low immune system or frail. If you are unsure if this treatment is for you please do not hesitate to call or drop a message to Lucy.

POWERDOT

This uses transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to relieve pain and improve performance!

It does this by causing an involuntary contraction creating a tingly sensation. It is used to reduce the effects of muscle atrophy while the muscles are healing and also have pain reducing tendencies.  partially on those who require a low impact substitute to exercises, in order to protect the joints, ligaments and tendons so you can return to everyday life promptly.

THERAPEUTIC ULTRASOUND

Therapeutic Ultrasound uses ultrasound waves to create micro-vibrations which breaks down adhesions and scar tissue. This procedure is pain free and assists with the healing of ligaments, tendons and muscles increasing speed of recovery. Treatments last between 4 and 12 minutes depending on injury severity and chronicity,  for best results ultrasound will be paired with additional treatments.

STRAPPING/TAPING

Taping can be used for pain reduction and to support the area around day-to-day activities following your visit to the clinic. Depending on your lifestyle and injury, zinc oxide or kinesiology tape can be used to assist the healing process.

Kinesiology Tape can work in multiple different ways and can be used to optimise recovery, create postural awareness, improve function and increase proprioception! It causes decompression of the injured tissues promoting normal gliding of facia layers! KTape also offloads sensory nerve endings which encourages the removal of exudate and nociceptive substances. KTape can alter sensory input on pain perception and motor output. By adding a sensory stimulation, it can ‘Tweak’ movements to improve functional technique in Particular movements.

ROCKPODS

Rockpods use decompressive technology to release and relieve connective tissue, increasing blood and lymph flow to surrounding muscle. This makes it a great noninvasive alternative to traditional cupping therapy!

They are used to treat chronic pain, relieve tention and relax the nervous system, assisting stimulation of the normal healing process.

Discomfort and bruising can result from this therapy and usually eases within a week
